Since 2005, the History, Philosophy and Newspaper Library at the University of Illinois has worked to develop unique digital newspaper content. Considered to be both preservation and access initiatives, digital conversion and markup is outsourced to carefully chosen vendors. Duplicate preservation files are stored in geographically distant storage locations, and access files are served locally from University Library servers.
